Easy Everyday Makeup Routine

Hi dolls!

I have to admit that part of this post was inspired by my latest binge watching of The Hills. Their makeup is so flawless, but like, they’re always busy so how do they keep it looking perfect? I have to remind myself it’s a show. I can’t believe I thought I would be living my LA life like Lauren. Totally not the case.

I thought it would be fun to share an easy makeup look that would be perfect for a day filled with errands, or maybe for someone who doesn’t have a lot of time to get ready, but still wants to look pulled together.

Before I dive in, I want to say that I do have oily skin, so if my beauty routine doesn’t quite float your boat, stick to what works for you. I will link all of the products I mention, while also linking it to the color I use.

Let’s get started!

Okay so, it isn’t shown in the image, but before I apply my concealer and gel cream, I like to apply sunscreen. My skin is oily, so I don’t really like primers or moisturizer because it makes my face look extra greasy (and that’s not cute). I found that sunblock gives my skin a touch of hydration and also protection. Since I live in California, sunblock is a necessity. I like the Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Sun Lotion SPF 30 and it’s the oil free sunblock. Next, I apply the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Cream. I love it so much! It gives me a little bit of coverage without making me feel cakey. If I really need it, which I mostly do, I apply Cover Girl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer. I apply the concealer around my chin (that’s where I breakout the most), under the eyes and around my nose (I tend to get red there). I like to apply the Bare Minerals cream all over my face, it sort of acts as a foundation.

Excuse my lips. After applying concealer and my gel cream, I apply powder to set it all in. I like the Bare Minerals Original Powder, or I’ll sometimes use the Younique Touch Mineral Pressed Powder. I love both of these products because the makeup gives me the perfect coverage without making me feel like I have a lot of makeup. I love wearing makeup, but I don’t like when I can feel it. It’s weird.

Almost done! I love bronzer. It adds life to my fair skin. I’m using an old Sephora bronzer that I purchased on sale (y’all know I love a good deal). I have a ton of bronzers, so you can use any bronzer that you love. Sometimes I like to use the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. I apply it on the apples of my cheeks and on the temples of my forehead. It’s like a little mini contour. After applying bronzer on both cheeks, I’ll use whatever is left on the brush and apply it to my neck that way it matches my face.

Next up, pucker up! Add a touch of lipstick or colored lip balm to complete your look. I’m using the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the color Mirihi Island Beach – Plum Rose. If it’s your birthday month, grab yours from Sephora!

To complete the look, use a makeup setting spray that way you can conquer your errands and busy day without having to do any touchups. I honestly love the Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray. Since I have oily skin, I like the oil control spray. There are 2 other options if you have normal or dry skin. This stuff seriously works. When I don’t apply the spray, my makeup falls apart within hours.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I wanna know what products you love to use! Share in the comments below. Xoxo

  1. Awesome post, Alyssa. I hardly wore makeup before I graduated college and had to start working- I just don’t feel professional without it on! Thanks for sharing :).

    1. Thanks, girl! I don’t like the cakey look, so this is my go-to when I want to look and feel like I have my life together. 🙂

I’ve never tried the makeup setting spray but I think I will. I tend to get oily around the nose so hopefully this will assist in keeping my look fresh!

    1. I tried the setting spray about a year ago, and can’t get enough! The Urban Decay one lasts for a long time, I recently had to purchase a new one after having my first one for a year. When I don’t use it, I have to reapply my makeup or do a lot of touchups. I get oily, too so buy the oil-free one!
