My 5 Favorite Red Lipsticks

Hi beauties!

Valentine’s Day is approaching! Not only does that mean chocolate (!!!), but it means wearing the hell out of your red lipsticks. Although, red lipstick never goes out of style and you can pretty much wear it anytime of the year. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite shades and red lipsticks with you. Most of these shades are the same, but are different in scent, price, coverage, and texture.

  1. Wet n Wild: 910D Red Velvet ($2.29)
  2. Maybelline: 690 Siren in Scarlet ($7.99)
  3. Make Up For Ever: N45 Rouge Artist Natural ($20)
  4. L’Oreal: 301 Real Red ($7.99)
  5. NYX: LSS516A Chic Red ($4.00)

I love this red because it’s more of an orange toned red and compliments my fair complexion. It’s not too strong or bold. This lipstick has a matte finish and lasts a while without having to re-apply. I would say eating does take off the product, which happens with most lipsticks. The only thing I dislike about this lipstick is that it is round, so it’s hard to apply around your cupid’s bow and outer corners of your lips. But for the affordable price, the color and finish out-perform the applicator. Just use a liner.

So this one is a true red and it’s slides on perfectly. It has a creamy, moisturizing texture, but it does dry to a matte. I love that even though this is a matte lipstick, and it dries, it still feels like my lips are being hydrated. Because it is thick in texture, you can’t build it up too much or else it starts feeling like Playdough. One or two coats are probably best. It also has a slight fragrance to it.

This product applies and feels more like a lip balm, but the color is rich and vibrant in real life. It is very buildable, and 2-3 applications will do the trick if you want a deep red finish. I love that my lips are moisturized and glossy with this lipstick. It’s not for everyone, especially people who love mattes, but I think the color is beautiful. It does have a round shape to it, and that’s my one complaint. It’s hard to get in the cupid’s bow.

So sorry, lovelies! I didn’t know this was an exclusive lip product. There are some available on Amazon and Ebay. I love that this product has anti-aging ingredients and it almost feels as though it plumps your lips at the same time. The fragrance isn’t great. The lipstick applies easily. It almost glides on your lips and feels like a thick balm. The product needs build up. 2 coats is probably the best for a rich red around your lips.

I love this color! Sorry, by this point I didn’t even know where my lips started. LOL From all the applying to taking the product off to applying a new shade, I just couldn’t tell what was my real lip. This color has a hint of magenta in it. I know you can’t tell as much in the image, but in real life there is a hint of deep pink that blends so beautifully into the red. The application is creamy and it has a bit of gloss to it. I think this color is more blue-toned than my other red shades and I love that it’s a bit deeper in color.

You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be stuffing my face with chocolate while wearing a red lip on Valentine’s Day!
