I want to dedicate this post to one of my idols – Selena Quintanilla.

No one rocked red lips like she did. I channeled my inner Selena in this post with four of my favorite looks.

She was the definition of glamor and yet she humbly shopped at Wal-Mart just like everyone else. Her style was effortless and it’s still influential in today’s fashion. Her bustiers are iconic. Selena was definitely ahead of her time.

Selena was the ultimate star. Not many performers today can sing better live. If you look back at old videos, Selena’s voice sounded incredible while she was on stage and you could feel her passion with every single note she hit. It’s honestly so amazing.

Selena was the most down-to-earth celebrity. She connected with all of her fans, and wasn’t afraid to be real with them. 

I know I sound like I met her or like I actually saw her in concert, but that’s what is so great about her. Selena’s music, fashion, and impact on the Latin community still lives on. It’s almost as if she never passed away.

I was about 2-years-old when Selena tragically died on March 31st. Even then, I still knew about her music because that’s all my family played. I’m born and bred from Texas, so best believe Selena was a big deal to me. Not to mention, I’m also a Mexican-American just like her.

When the movie came out, that’s when I really understood what happened to her. After the film, I fell even more in love with her music. It’s crazy to think she passed away when she was only 23. I’m 23 and still feel like a teenager sometimes. It’s insane to think she was already so successful in her career and creating music that would live on forever. Gone too soon.
