With spring in full swing and summer closely approaching, protecting your precious skin from the sun’s harmful rays should be your top priority.
I like to use several SPF products before makeup application, because for me, keeping my skin shielded from the sun is essential. While some SPF products can make your face look like a greasy mess (or worse, it breaks your makeup apart), I’ve found goodies that keep everything intact.
In short, you don’t have to sacrifice your fave makeup items in order to incorporate sunscreen and other sun protection products into your routine.
So without further ado, see the goodies I use to keep my skin protected from the sun while also keeping my makeup fresh and flawless.
VOLITION PRISMATIC LUMINZING SHIELD SPF 50, $35
I looooove this SPF, not only for its thin consistency and high SPF number, but also because of its radiance-enhancing formula. It gives your skin a gorgeous glow (sometimes I wear it alone, without makeup) while also protecting it from the sun.
IT COSMETICS BYE BYE FOUNDATION FULL COVERAGE MOISTURIZER SPf 50, $39.50
On days I want to skip my matte or full coverage foundations, this power-packed moisturizer gets the job done. It not only comes with a high SPF number, but it’s designed to help cover up redness, dark spots, breakouts and more. I definitely notice a difference with it reducing my redness, as that’s one of my biggest skin issues. Overall, it makes my skin look healthy.
COLORESCIENCE ALL CALM CLINICAL REDNESS CORRECTOR SPF 50, $125
This is one of my major splurges, because that price tag is brutal. However, it works wonders especially when it comes to concealing my redness and giving my skin that extra layer of protection. I like to use this as a primer around my nose, inner cheek area and chin, which is where I have the most redness and tend to get oily. Not only does it stay put all day, but it almost helps the longevity of my foundation and concealer. The only downside? The texture kind of feels like wet sand and it has a grayish brown color, so I can’t wear it alone.
SUPERGOOP! SUPERSCREEN DAILY MOISTURIZER SPF 40, $38
I can’t believe I’ve been sleeping on this product. I recently started using it and it’s become my new go-to. I love that this moisturizer is already infused with SPF, because it’s one less step I have to do in my makeup routine. I’ve found that it gives my skin a nice dewy effect (which I’m not a fan of typically, but this product gives off the right amount of dew) and it keeps my makeup in place. Other moisturizers with SPF usually break my foundation and concealer apart—not this one! The only thing I dislike, but that comes with most SPF products, is that you can smell the sunscreen. It’s not a huge deal, but the scent is there.
RENÉE ROULEAU WEIGHTLESS PROTECTION SPF 30, $57.50
While I do wish this product came with a higher SPF, especially for its price, I do love that it’s a lightweight formula and that it’s meant for sensitive skin types (aka me!). It also doesn’t have a greasy or thick consistency like most sunscreens. Plus, all Renée Rouleau products are A+, so it’s definitely a winner in my book.
