After binge-watching Tidying Up on Netflix, I became obsessed with organizing and de-cluttering my beauty room. Tbh, I’m still doing spring cleaning in that room, and it’s overwhelming to say the least.
As a beauty lover (and beauty journalist), my beauty room is filled to the brim with products that I’ve separated into three categories: products I adore, products I feel meh about, and products I hate.
For me, figuring out the items that truly spark joy made me feel more appreciative of what I own, and, more importantly, I became happy to use them all over again.
In general (but in the beauty community especially), it seems that all the excess just isn’t wanted anymore. In 2019, it feels like we already have everything—primers, mascaras, moisturizers, and more.
I no longer feel that I need the “next best thing,” because chances are, I probably already own a product that’s almost identical. I want to get back to a time when I actually screamed with excitement over makeup and skincare. I want to love a product so much that I use it all up. Although, that’s not to say I’ll never buy new beauty products. I just want to be more mindful about what I’m adding to my collection.
When I was cleaning out my makeup drawers, I became sentimental over certain products. Not for the typical reasons, like who gave it to me, when I bought it or its packaging. The reason I became emotional over them was because they were products that I actually used on a daily basis. Because that’s how much I loved them.
I want to get back to that.
Today, I want to do something a little different on my blog. Instead of recommending new products, I want to share the ones that truly spark joy for me. The ones that are my ride-or-dies, that I’ll always keep re-purchasing.
