‘Tis the season to glow.
When it comes to highlight, I’m someone who loves the subtle look, especially for everyday wear. I’m a lit-from-within kind of gal and stick to my three go-to products: Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Palette, Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter or Becca Cosmetics’ First Light Priming Filter Face Primer.
However, there are times when I want to switch things up and blind people with my highlight. Enter: Fenty Beauty ‘s Trophy Wife bundle and loose body shimmer powder.
The Trophy Wife Life set ($64) includes four items that come in the same gold shade as the brand’s fan-fave highlighter. The Fairy Bomb Body Shimmer Powder in Trophy Wife is sold separately for $28.
In the bundle, you’ll find: the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter, a Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, a Hyper-Metallic Liquid Eyeliner (new) and a Hyper-Glitz Lipstick (new). Aside from the highlight, the other three items are exclusive to the set.
While the set and loose powder looked intimidating at first—because as someone who goes for the subtle route, this felt jarring—I was pleasantly surprised by how delicate and subdued it appeared. That’s not to say that it’s not noticeable, but it’s not as stark as I imagined it would be. If anything, the highlighters and lip products gave my skin a nice luminosity. Of course, with the gel liner made my overall beauty look playful and fun, which was a nice way to step out of my comfort zone.
So if you want to shine as bright as the holiday lights this season, take a peek at the lewk I created using both the bundle and shimmer powder.
I want to note that the highlight and liner lasted throughout my entire work day. However, the gloss and lipstick needed re-application but I expected that. The lip formulas are the same as the brand’s other Gloss Bombs and Glitz Lipsticks.
I definitely gravitated towards the Glitz lipstick and re-applied that the most—it also looked gorgeous on its own. For me, the Gloss Bomb looks better as a topper (at least for my complexion), rather than on its own.
Since the other items stayed put throughout the day, I have zero complaints or notes about them. The loose shimmer powder does work best if you apply it with a powder puff tool, rather than a brush. Especially if you want to achieve a more subtle glow for a work day.
All in all, these goodies exceeded my expectation. With this collection, it was just the right amount of going bold and still feeling like myself.
*I want to note that I received these items through PR but my thoughts about them are 100 percent honest.
